OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Paper Trains(2018-) is a student-led literary journal currently directed by its founder & Editor and Chief M.L. Shenoy. Our mission is to foster artistic expression and cultivate awareness for global issues through implementation of the humanities, in addition to providing a voice for young and emerging writers. We hope to discover and unite upcoming artists through their literary expression and photography. We believe it is crucial to provide a platform for all talented artists, regardless of their ethnic, financial, and political backgrounds. With a high value on pursuit of passion, we hope to inspire all ages to explore their artistry!
M.L. Shenoy(Founder and Editor in Chief)
Meg Shenoy is an Indian American writer, artist, and student.
She has received numerous accolades for her writing including a Scholastic 2019 Gold Key, Texas Literary and Fine Arts Festival Blue Ribbon, Texas Reflections Award, and 3 Gold Keys, 1 silver key, and 2 honorable mentions for her writing in the 2020 Scholastic writing awards.
In 2015, her student sample was published in the educational textbook 'Text Structures from the Masters', a project authored by Gretchen Bernabei.
Shenoy served as editor of the features section of 'The Saga' student journalism publication from 2014-2015 and Editor in Chief of Breaking News Digital Newsletter from 2011-2015.
In art, she has received a Visual Arts and Scholastic Event medal and the Texas French Symposium State Art Award.
She is currently in the process of completing her first novella manuscript. When she's not writing or completing art, Shenoy enjoys a plethora of hobbies including ballet, reading (obviously), eating entire pizzas, and watching sappy romance movies.
Thank you to all the supporters and motivators for inspiring me to continue Paper Trains. Operating solo can be difficult, and your verbal support and encouragements mean everything to me! I send love and thanks to all the writers who have faith in trusting Paper Trains with their pieces as well as to the incredible readers I get to hear from! But, specifically, I want to thank these two people:
Zesheng Xu is a secondary student originally from China and now studying in America. Xu helped provide insightful commentary, guidance, and motivation with regard to the first issue of Paper Trains. In his free time, he enjoys photography, competitive golfing, and Academic Decathalon competitions.
Bela Shenoy is a former biochemist and currently an avid writer. She helped create advertising posts for the second issue of Paper Trains.
Thanks for coming on this ongoing journey with me :)
